SOX Victory Parade!!!
What an experience!!!
We saw the newly crowned (American baseball) World Series champs - Boston Red Sox team up close. Damon, Ortiz, Arroyo, Pedro, Schilling, Ramirez - everyone was there on the "duckboats", as the "by land & by sea" victory parade "chugged" along on the Charles within a few feet from the Mass Ave bridge. That's where we were along with thousands of fans, waiting to catch a glimpse of the team that overturned the curse. Pedro did his "finger-pointing-at-the-sky" routine sitting on top of one of the boats, while others waved or filmed the crowd. We even saw the trophy in all its "Boston glory", as police & coast guard vessels losely escorted the flotilla, a wave-runner jutting in and out between boats, while a coast guard vessel exhausted its water spray. Cars honking drove by on Mass Ave, while fans screamed, shouted & waved to the victorious team members and their entourage.
Its great to be part of this madness, and we loved every moment of it, even though it drizzled right through...

GO SOX!!!
what a set of games, eh!!! the Yankees are an amazing team, showing their mettle in the first 3 of this set of 7 Sox-Yankees matches. this after a good season as usual. I particularly love Jeter - his passion, attitude & energy are just so overpowering...
but, the Sox fought back, this time around. coming back from a 0-3 situation, to win the last 4 games, the last one in quite a spectacular fashion was just phenomenal. what team work & energy - each game had its "winners" - Ortiz, Damon, Arroyo, and finally Lowe. reminded me of India-Pakistan matches...
maybe you watched it, maybe you didn't. but, either way I love it when something grabs our attention so much that people forget to say "not much" or "kete jatche, kintu rokto porche na" when asked "what's going on" or "kemon acho"? at least in Boston, people seemed to have forgotten that a major & vital election is just around the corner.
should we forget that people are dying for no fault of their own, or don't have anything to eat, or some such thing?
absolutely not, but at least once in a while its great to focus on hope, on the achievements of mankind, both our own & those of others who have a dream, a vision for something "bigger" than simply our own lives, issues & problems. Gandhi & Martin Luther King come to mind. however, I also love it when we as a race, take a humongous step forward, when things like SpaceCraftOne making it to the edge of space, happen...
these are unbelievable times - good & bad - so here's wishing we feel happy & grateful that we've made it in life, unlike a lot of others who're still struggling to find an identity, or maybe some food.
